Recently there has been an outstanding breakthrough in the treatment of cancer. Using very targeted treatment on the individual who is suffering from this disease, the vaccine that is produced just for them is showing remarkable results, which could in time serve as a cure for this devasting disease.

Cancer is life threatening, and so is drinking too much. Whether through accidental events, causing cancer in 7 different organs in the body most alarming breast cancer is steeply on the rise, heart disease, alcohol related dementia, depressive episodes leading to self-harm. Not only do these affect the individual who drinks more than they should, but also those who love and care for them.

 Forever, there has been mainstream care for alcohol dependence that is solely blanket coverage. A script, an audit, those of use with a faulty on off button are put into the same category, alcoholic.

 For the last thirteen years Harrogate Sanctuary has given clients totally bespoke care. Each client is unique, there have been at various stages of alcohol misuse, and my programmes are tailored to each and every one. In comparison to rehab, and AA our success rates are way out there in front of their rather unsuccessful numbers, 5% with AA and approximately 26% with rehab. Last year ours was 86%.

It is common sense surely that when you have incredibly specific care the results will be much more effective.

I am not a scientist or curing cancer, but I do follow the same remit as this amazing new treatment. Every single client must be assessed, their background explored, and their needs carefully considered.

It saddens me that it is so obvious there must be change to mainstream treatments, because nothing is getting better, in fact going backwards. Alcohol costs the NHS billions each year, it is hardly ever top of politicians’ agenda, and I know why, Big Alcohol has a grip, makes them millions in tax, and keeps the masses dumbed down and numbed out.

Time for change.
